Fourth consecutive year of growth for the global recorded music industry

With total revenues up 9.7% to $19.1 billion, the global recorded music industry has experienced in 2018 its best year in over a decade. Industry revenues have now been growing for four years in a row, boosted by strong performances from streaming, which have offset the decline of both physical products (except vinyl) and downloads, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's 'State of the Industry Report' covering 2018.

France’s recorded music market was up 8.2% to €364.4m in the first half of 2022

The French recorded music market posted revenues of €364.4 million in the first half of the year, up 8.2% compared to the same period the year before, according to statistics published by trade organisation SNEP.

Digital accounted for €282m during the period, up 14% year-on-year, with physical down 8.7% to €83m. Streaming represented 76% of total revenues for the first half and almost all of the revenue from digital (98% vs 97% in the 1st semester 2021). Physical accounted for 23% of total ...

Utopia Music-owned Sentric Music Group expands its A&R team in the US

Royalty management services company Sentric Music Group, part of Swiss-based Utopia Music, has hired four new executives to strengthen its A&R team in the United States — Matt DuFour, Carlos Escalona Cruz, Kebu Commissiong and Lou Plaia.
