Charles Caldas (Merlin): “We are very bullish that the streaming growth will continue.”

Charles Caldas, who has
led Merlin for the past 12 years, will be leaving the independent
music companies' global digital rights licensing agency at the end of
the year. Caldas hails from Australia, where he was running a local
distribution company. Relocating to Europe with his family, Caldas
started at the organisation when it had only a few members,
mostly in Europe and North America, and built it into the fourth
largest basket of music recording rights in the world after the three
majors.

IMPF welcomes licensing hub ICE to its ‘Friends and Supporters’ category

The Independent Music Publishers International Forum (IMPF) has included digital music licensing hub ICE to its ‘Friends and Supporters’ category.

ICE is a a joint venture between the UK's PRS for Music, Sweden's STIM and Germany's GEMA. It negotiates digital licenses with DSPs on behalf of music rights holders. ICE has now passed €3 billion in royalty distributions and represents more than 330,000 rights holders in the ICE Core license.

SCPP promotes Marie-Charlotte Lachaize to Director of Distributions and Repertoire
