Cox Communications drops case against BMG and Rightscorp

US internet service provider Cox Communications has dropped its lawsuit against music company BMG and its anti-piracy partner Rightscorp. 

  Cox filed a motion to dismiss with US District Court for the Central District of California, informing the court that it "voluntarily dismissed this case with prejudice." 

  The motion to dismiss does not provide any additional information about the possible settlement between Cox and defendants.

Texas court dismisses Kirk Johnson’s lawsuit against Nickelback

A US District Court dismissed a copyright infringement lawsuit filed against Nickelback and music publisher Warner Chappell Music by singer and songwriter Kirk Johnston, from the band Snowblind Revival, who claimed that the Canadian rock band ​copied his 2001 song 'Rock Star' in their namesake song, released on Nickelback’s 2005 album 'All the Right Reasons'.

Jagger/Richards sued for copyright infringement for ‘Living In A Ghost Town’

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have been sued in New Orleans federal court by songwriter Sergio Garcia Fernandez (a.k.a. Angelslang) who accuses the Rolling Stones' songwriting duo of using portions of two of his songs in 'Living in a Ghost Town', their single released in 2020 during the Covid pandemic.

Konstantine Lois and Shane Williams drop infringement lawsuit against Benny Blanco

Konstantine Lois and Shane Williams, two songwriters and artists who perform under the name American XO, have dropped a copyright infringement lawsuit they had initiated against Benny Blanco, Halsey, Khalid and Ed Sheeran.

Lois and Williams claimed that Blanco's song 'Eastside' was copied from XO's 2015 song 'Loveless'. “Both the Loveless riff and the Eastside riff comprise of identical two note dyads of identical note intervals played over identical beats,” read the lawsuit.
