Tencent could be forced to abandon exclusive licensing deals with labels

Tencent Music Entertainment revenues for 2022 were down 9.3% to $4.11 billion

China’s digital music and audio entertainment platform Tencent Music Entertainment Group (TME) has posted revenues of RMB28.34 billion ($4.11bn), down 9.3% year-over-year. Net profit for 2022 was RMB3.68bn ($533m), representing a 21.4% year-over-year growth.

The company — which operates three of the country’s largest music streaming services: QQ Music, Kugou Music and Kuwo Music — said that the decrease was mainly due to a 19.8% drop in revenues from social entertainment services and others ...
