Licensing platform SynchFloor appoints Samu Rast to lead its sales team

Commercial music licensing platform SynchFloor has hired Samu Rast to head its sales team. Rast joins SyncFloor after stints at the production music house Anthem Entertainment / Jingle Punks and at BMG.

Based in New York, Rast will ensure SyncFloor continues to grow and find new customers for its easy-to-license repertoire. SyncFloor is a B2B platform providing licensed access to commercial music for use by businesses and creators.

UMG/Interscope sign deal with HYBE to distribute BTS records in the USA

South Korea's HYBE-owned label BigHit Music, home to K-pop band BTS, has switched distribution partners in the US by signing a new deal with Universal Music Group and Interscope, effective December 1.

BTS records were previously handled by Sony Music‘s Columbia Records and its affiliate The Orchard, specialised in the distribution and services to the independent sector.

Facebook and France’s APIG reach an agreement to license and remunerate the use of news content

Facebook has reached an agreement with France's Alliance de la presse d’information générale (APIG), which represents a large part of the country's national and regional daily press, to license and remunerate news content.

Facebook has previously announced similar agreements with dailies Le Monde and Figaro. France was the first European country to transpose into national law the so-called “neighboring rights” for news publishers, introduced by Article 15 of the 2019 Copyright Directive.

Digital rights technology company Pex has launched its Platform Guarantee scheme, an insurance-like solution for platforms of all sizes.
