GMM Grammy partners with Tuned Global to launch Thailand’s music streaming app Plern

Thailand's largest media and entertainment group GMM Grammy is launching the country's first localised music streaming App, Plern, targeting the nation's 45-50 million smartphone users.

Plern app expects to onboard five million monthly active users within the first year. Plern's Premium offer will be priced THB59 (approx. €1.57)per week and THB119 (€3.17) per month.

Most OTT viewers use the ad-supported tiers of video streaming services in the US

The penetration of subscription over-the-top (OTT) ad-supported services is growing in the USA, according to estimates from marketing and research company eMarketer.

The most popular of all paid ad-supported services is Amazon Prime Video, for which eight out of ten subscribers choses to use the ad-supported tier, according to eMarketer's February 2024 forecast.
