Spotify and YouTube grant £1million to Bjorn Ulvaeus’ Session to develop better metadata for music creators

Spotify and YouTube have provided a grant of £1million (€1.19m) to Session, the company co-founded by ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus with Swedish songwriters and producers Max Martin and Niclas Mollinder in 2019 to help creators ensure that they have the right metadata, from the point of creation.

The grant comes in support of in support of Session’s mission "to make sure creators are always fairly credited and rewarded for their work, increasing accuracy for royalty distribution."

Gulf-based music rights organisation ESMAA is partnering with music tech company Audoo to rollout Audoo's music recognition technology, the Audio Meters, in the Middle East to accurately capture public performances.
