CMRRA on target to distribute CA$61 million for fiscal year 2021

The Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA) is on track to distribute over CA$61 million in royalty distributions this fiscal year, representing an 8% increase over 2020 distributions, according to the agency's President Paul Shaver.

The Brazilian Superior Court of Justice has affirmed that the CIDE tax applied on music royalties sent abroad is not justified, putting an end to an almost two-decade long legal battle between rights society UBC and the country's Fiscal Authority.

Brazil’s ECAD reports record collections in 2022, with revenue up 28.3% to R$1.393bn

Brazil's rights collection society ECAD has collected a total of R$ 1.393 billion in 2022 (€261.81m), up 28.3% compared to the previous year. For the first time in three years, revenues exceed pre-Covid levels. ECAD's revenues reached R$1.12bn in 2019, followed by a drop to R$905m in 2020.
