YouTube paid $6bn to the music industry in 2021-22 and pledges to be the sector’s #1 contributor of revenue by 2025

YouTube has paid over $6 billion to the music industry in the 12 months between July 2021 and June 2022, according to the video streaming service's Head of Music Lyor Cohen. Netflix posted revenue of $45.2 billion in 2025, up 16% year over year, boosted by fourth quarter revenue of $12.1bn, up 17.6% over the same quarter a year prior, thanks to membership gain.
