Hungarian society ARTISJUS signs representation agreement with SACEM for the online licensing of its repertoire

Hungarian music collective management organisation ARTISJUS (Artisjus Magyar Szerzői Jogvédő Iroda Egyesület) has signed a representation agreement with France's SACEM for the licensing of Hungarian music repertoire to major online streaming service providers. The agreement kicks off from January 2023.

The MLC unveils six new appointments to its advisory committees

The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC), which administers mechanical rights in the United States, has disclosed the names of the six persons appointed to the Nashville-based music rights organisation’s advisory committees, including three appointments to the Dispute Resolution Committee, one appointment to the Operations Advisory Committee and two appointments to the Unclaimed Royalties Oversight Committee. Committee appointments are for three-year terms.

Organisations representing creators and rights holders — CISAC, IFRRO, IFPI, IMPF, and SCAPR — have sent a letter to Soso Giorgadze, the Chairman of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia (SAKPATENTI) to strongly oppose its decision to exclude the established Georgian Copyright Association (GCA), from the country’s process for accrediting collective management organisations (CMOs) and replace it with IPOA, a newly accredited CMO in Georgia.

ECAD is seeking performance rights from music used at the Pernambuco carnival

Brazil's umbrella organisation for music rights societies ECAD (Central Collection and Distribution Office) is seeking royalties from the organisers of the carnival events in the sate of Pernambuco, which have failed in recent years to pay performance rights.
