European Commission agrees on the proposed Digital Networks Act (DNA)

The European Commission has adopted on 21 January 2026 the Digital Networks Act (DNA), a legislation aimed at modernising the legal framework for connectivity and provide the Union with "an advanced and resilient digital infrastructure." The DNA builds upon the EU Electronic Communications Code (EECC) adopted in 2018. It addresses the fact that the EU remains fragmented into 27 national markets, and European operators continue to face barriers to operate cross-border and scale-up.
