ERA reports UK home entertainment market grew by 6.9% to £11.1bn in 2022

The value of the British home entertainment market reached £11.1 billion in 2022, up 6.9% on 2021 and up 39% on the last pre-pandemic year of 2019, according to preliminary figures from digital entertainment and retail association ERA.

.This is an all-time record for music, video and games sales in the UK, since the organisation started collecting data. The main driver of growth continued to be streaming and digital formats which reached £10.1bn up 8.4% on 2021.

Sony Music Publishing Nashville and Droptine Music Publishing have partnered to sign country songwriters and performers Russell Sutton and Tommy Karlas to global publishing deals.

Sutton has penned songs such as his his first No.1 single 'My Boy' by Elvie Shane and 'Whiskey On You' by Nate Smith. Karlas has written songs for artists including Blake Shelton, Warren Zeiders, Old Dominion, Randy Travis, and Montgomery Gentry. He released his debut songwriter album entitled 'Put It In Drive'.

BMI promotes a group of executives from within its creative team

US music rights society Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) has announced a series of promotions within the company’s Creative team.

Rafael Martinez has been appointed to newly created roles as Vice President, Strategy and Business Affairs, Creative. Based in New York, he reports to BMI’s Executive Vice President, Creative and Licensing, Mike Steinberg. Martinez joined BMI in 2014 as a Director of Business Affairs and was promoted to Assistant Vice President, Business Affairs and Creative in 2019.

German entertainment and media group Bertelsmann has picked Thomas Coesfeld to succeed Hartwig Masuch as CEO of music division BMG, effective January 1, 2024.
