PRS for Music’s new classical music rates for public performances kick in on Sept. 1

British rights society PRS for Music has introduced its new Live Classical scheme, with the new rates renewed from 1 September 2023. The previous rate setting for classical music goes back to 2003.

The updates will apply to classical concerts and recitals, and as part of the license with PRS for Music, individual musicians and orchestras will have ability to perform any of the works included in PRS’ classical repertoire.

Music Nation Copyrights Management and BMI partner to set up a music licensing and royalty distribution business in the UAE

UAE-based music rights management organisation Music Nation Copyrights Management is partnering with US for-profit music rights society BMI to establish "a world-class music licensing and royalty distribution infrastructure based in the UAE."

SABAM’s 2022 collections were up 23% to €163.1m with live music still recovering

Brussels-based multi-repertoire rights society SABAM has distributed €115.1 million in 2022 to authors, composers and publishers, up +6% compares to the previous year. SCAPR members collected €875 million in 2022, up 9.3% compared to 2021

Members of SCAPR, the organisations representing neighbouring rights societies for performers, have collected in 2022 an estimated €875 million, up 9.3% compared to 2021’s collections, according to figures disclosed by SCAPR's Laura Canjura, during the 48th General Assembly or the organisation held in London May 16-18.
