Elon Musk taps NBCUniversal executive Linda Yaccarino as CEO of Twitter

Elon Musk has named NBCUniversal Media's Chairman, Global Advertising & Partnerships Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter.

Musk — who owns the social media — said he will focus on the technology and design aspects of the company while Yaccarino will lead business operations. Yaccarino spent almost 12 years at Comcast-owned NBCUniversal, focusing mainly on the company's advertising business, after 15 years at Turner Entertainment.

European Union's Luxembourg-based General Court has affirmed the European Commission's decision to name Bytedance-owned platform TikTok as a "gatekeeper" under the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

TikTok, alongside Meta, challenged in court the decision from the Commission to grant the platforms the "gatekeeper" status, which applies to large online platforms with a significant market share and comes with a specific set of rules — in particular the need to allow interoperability with competitors....

Netflix has added 8.05 million subscribers during the second quarter of 2024, a 16.5% increase year-over-year, beating expectations from analysts. The video streaming company counted 277.65 million subscribers globally at the end of June.

AI:OK launches to support an ethical use of AI in music products and services

Musician and academic Martin Clancy and technology expert David Hughes have launched AI:OK with the goal of "identifying ethically aligned music products and services in the age of AI."
