European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has reshuffled some of the Commissioners' portfolios following the resignation of Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel, who has been named Prime Minister of Bulgaria.

Switzerland’s Federal Council opens a consultation on the introduction of a neighbouring right for news content

On 24 May 2023, Switzerland's Federal Council, the executive branch of the country, has approved a bill which opens a four-month consultation regarding the possible amendment to the Copyright Act (CopA) to introduce a neighbouring right for news content.

The measure, if adopted, would force social media platforms to compensate news producers for the use of news snippets. The Federal Council said the new law would address an imbalance in the market.

Dutch law enforcement takes down an IPTV network serving one million users in Europe
