SCAPR members collected €875 million in 2022, up 9.3% compared to 2021

Members of SCAPR, the organisations representing neighbouring rights societies for performers, have collected in 2022 an estimated €875 million, up 9.3% compared to 2021’s collections, according to figures disclosed by SCAPR's Laura Canjura, during the 48th General Assembly or the organisation held in London May 16-18.

Canada’s rights society Re:Sound calls for an update to the Copyright Act

Re:Sound, the Canadian not-for-profit neighbouring rights licensing company, has called on lawmakers in Ottawa "to take urgent action to update the Copyright Act to meet the realities of the 21st century."

Brazil’s ECAD reports record collections in 2022, with revenue up 28.3% to R$1.393bn

Brazil's rights collection society ECAD has collected a total of R$ 1.393 billion in 2022 (€261.81m), up 28.3% compared to the previous year. For the first time in three years, revenues exceed pre-Covid levels. ECAD's revenues reached R$1.12bn in 2019, followed by a drop to R$905m in 2020.
