Sony Music Masterworks takes a majority stake in Proactiv Entertainment

Sony Music Masterworks, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, has acquired a majority stake in Barcelona-based concert production and events organiser Proactiv Entertainment. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Kobalt plans to raise $266.5m by collateralising music royalties

Music publishing and asset management company Kobalt Music Group plans to raise $266.5 million by issuing a class of notes through Kobalt Music Assets and collateralising the transaction with royalties from a music catalogue of over 5,000 songs from artists and songwriters such as AJR, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Busta Rhymes, and Jessie J.

BMG signs American band New Kids on the Block to a global recording agreement

American band New Kids on the Block have signed a new global recordings agreement with BMG to release their first new studio album in more than a decade.
