European Parliament adopts the AI Act

The European Parliament has agreed to a series of amendments to the Commission's draft Artificial Intelligence Act (Proposal for a Regulation laying down harmonised rules on Artificial intelligence) and passed on June 14 the legislation which aims to regulate some aspect of the AI technology.

FTC and 17 states file competition lawsuit against Amazon for dominant position

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and 17 state attorneys general have sued Amazon.com, alleging that the online retail and technology company is "a monopolist that uses a set of interlocking anticompetitive and unfair strategies to illegally maintain its monopoly power."

Canada’s rights society Re:Sound calls for an update to the Copyright Act

The Philippines IPO and local DSPs sign a Memorandum of Understanding to block access to sites offering pirated content

The IPO Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and ISPs operating in the country have signed a voluntary site-blocking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will lead ISPs to disable access to websites that offer unlicensed content.
