European Commission launches a study into the discoverability of European cultural content in the digital environment

The European Commission's DG EAC, responsible for education, youth, sport and culture, as launched a tender for a study that will look into the discoverability of diverse European cultural content in the digital environment.

DG EAC said the study aims "to understand discoverability online and the impact of content prioritisation, algorithm recommendations, and curation strategies on cultural and linguistic diversity."

Hong Kong government launches public consultation on the impact of artificial intelligence technology on copyright law

The government in hong Kong has launched a two-month public consultation on enhancing the Copyright Ordinance (Cap. 528) regarding the protection for artificial intelligence technology development.

Following the implementation of the Copyright (Amendment) Ordinance 2022 in May 2023, designed to strengthen copyright protection in the digital environment, the consultation will explore "further enhancement of the Copyright Ordinance (CO) regarding the protection for AI technology development.

European Commission’s ‘preliminary findings’ show X has been in breach of the EU’s Digital Services Act

The European Commission has informed X, formerly Twitter, that the social network was in breach of the Digital Services Act (DSA) in areas linked to dark patterns, advertising transparency and data access for researchers.
