US Senate confirms Anna Gomez as the fifth member of telecoms regulator the FCC

The US Senate voted 55-43 to confirm Anna Gomez, President Joe Biden's nominee for a fifth seat on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The vote gives the Democratic party a 3-2 majority at the FCC, and Gomez's endorsement by the Senate puts an end to a vacancy that has lasted for over two years, as Biden's previous nominee, Gigi Sohn, failed to receive the approval of the Senate after three hearings.
