Alex Machurov named A2IM’s Head of Business Development

The American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) has appointed Alex Machurov as its new Head of Business Development.

In his new position, he will oversee A2IM’s strategic partnerships as well as sponsorship opportunities for the association’s event properties such as the annual Indie Week Conference and the Libera Awards.

Machurov was most recently Co-Founder and CEO of digital charity fundraising platform  Fandiem. Prior to that he was Chief Revenue Officer at Revolution Marketing, managing sponsorships for properties such as the Merriweather Post Pavilion amphitheater and the Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville, AL. Prior to Revolution Marketing, he was VP of National Events & Experiential Partnerships at iHeartMedia.

Supporting the independent music community

“My whole life my favorite and most influential music has come from indie artists,” said Machurov. “That’s why I am so excited to join A2IM and play a role in supporting and advocating for the independent music community.”

“Alex’s expertise and his passion for the independent music community will enrich our current activities and steer A2IM to more expansive opportunities,” said A2IM CEO Richard James Burgess. “We welcome his vast network of connections and the knowledge he brings to the independent sector.”

Emmanuel is a Washington, DC-based freelance journalist, blogger and media consultant, specialising in the entertainment business and cultural trends. He was the US editor for British music industry trade publication Music Week. Previously, he was the editor of Impact, a magazine for the music publishing community (2007-2009), the global editor of US trade publication Billboard (2003-2006), and the editor in chief of Billboard’s sister publication Music & Media (1997-2003).

Ed Sheeran has once again been the most played artist of 2023 in the4 UK, according to British neighbouring rights society PPL, which disclosed the news ahead of its Annual General Meeting. Sheeran wins the accolade for the seventh time in nine years, and for three consecutive years.

Symphonic Distribution names Guji Lorenzana as Territory Manager for Asia

Tampa, Florida-based Symphonic Distribution has hired Guji Lorenzana as the first Territory Manager covering Asia for the music technology and services company for independent labels, managers, and artists.
