Hellman & Friedman takes control of GMR with close to 90% of the PRO’s shares

US privately-owned for profit performance rights society Global Music Rights (GMR) is now fully controlled by private equity firm Hellman & Friedman, which owns close to 90% of the Los Angeles-based company.
Hellman & Friedman acquired at the end of 2024 the majority shares owned by Texas Pacific Group, as well as the minority equity stake held by the Azoff Company, in a deal that valued GMR at $3.3 billion. The deal closed just before Christmas, according to a Billboard report.

The Boards of Directors of French neighbouring rights societies ADAMI and SCPP have approved the creation of a joint tool for data referencing and royalties' distribution.
