The US Copyright Office has announced on November 14 that it is back to being "fully operational" following the reopening of the federal government.
During the shutdown, most Office functions were paused but the USCO said it has now "resumed all services and continues to administer U.S. copyright law, including registering copyright claims, recording information about copyright ownership, providing information to the public, and assisting Congress and other parts of the government."

The 42nd Civil Chamber of the Regional Court in Munich found in favour of German music rights society GEMA in a copyright infringement case against OpenAI, which was accused of using copyrighted lyrics to train its chatbot ChatGPT without a license. OpenAI plans to appeal the ruling.
