TRAIN Act re-introduced in US Senate

Senators Peter Welch (D-Vt), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Adam Schiff (D-Ca.) and JoshHawley (R-Mo.) have re-introduced the Transparency and Responsibility for Artificial Intelligence Networks (TRAIN) Act of 2025 in the US Senate. The Bill was first introduced in November 2024 by Sen. Welch.
The Bill would create "an administrative subpoena process to assist copyright owners in determining which of their copyrighted works have been used in the training of artificial intelligence models."

USTR calls for comments to inform its annual Notorious Markets List

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has launched a request for comments as part of the annual 2025 Review of Notorious Markets for Counterfeiting and Piracy (known as the Notorious Markets List). 
The USTR is seeking to identify online and physical markets to be considered for inclusion in the Notorious Markets List that reportedly "engage in or facilitate substantial copyright piracy or trademark counterfeiting."

Australia’s creative sector objects to the proposal of creating a new fair dealing exception for text and data mining

The proposal from Australia's Productivity Commission’s to introduce a new fair dealing exception in the country's Copyright Act for text and data mining for AI models has been rejected by the country's creative sector.
