ASCAP and BMI unveil new joint database featuring information on 20m works

US rights societies ASCAP and BMI have unveiled SONGVIEW, a new data platform that provides music users with "an authoritative view of copyright ownership and administration shares in the vast majority of music licensed in the United States."

Rights societies BMI and ASCAP settle with US radio collective RMLC in deals reflecting a rise in performance royalties

US music rights society BMI and the Radio Music License Committee (RMLC), which represents the commercial radio sector, have reached a settlement of their rate court proceeding.
Details of the settlement were not available, in particular the new rates applicable. SOCAN sues Festival d’été de Québec for alleged unpaid performance royalties
