Laetitia Nguala Masamba replaces Carola Streul as Secretary General of EVA

Laetitia Nguala Masamba has been appointed as the new Secretary General of European Visual Artists (EVA), the groupment of 31 collecting societies for visual artists, following her unanimous endorsement by the EVA General Assembly. She replaces Carola Streul who was in the job since 1997 and who is retiring from the Brussels-based organisation.

Two recent studies commissioned by rights ognisations — Spain's SGAE and Denmark's KODA (in partnership with IFPI Denmark) — have reached similar conclusions: creators and their societies face significant potential losses as AI-generated content proliferates on music streaming services. GMR and SESAC join ASCAP and BMI’s database Songview offering access to data about over 38 million songs

The four major performing rights organisations in the United States — ASCAP, BMI, GMR and SESAC — have joined forces to expand Songview into the most comprehensive US public performance copyright data resource.

SAMRO’s Chair of the Board Nicholas Maweni steps down after seven years

Nicholas Maweni, Chairperson of the Board of the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO), South Africa’s leading music rights society, announced that he will be stepping down from his position on 1 October 2025, after close to seven years in the role.
