Ireland makes basic income scheme for artists a permanent fixture in budget 2026

The Irish Government's Basic Income for the Arts (BIA) programme, guaranteeing a minimum income to qualifying creators, has been earmarked in the Budget 2026 as a permanent fixture, thanks to a €131 million increase to the €1.5bn budget allocated to the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport.
