Teosto, TONO and STEF join ICE Core

Collective management organisations from Finland (Teosto), Norway (TONO) and Iceland (STEF) have joined ICE Core, the multi-territory digital music licensing hub operated by International Copyright Enterprise (ICE), a joint venture between the UK's PRS for Music, Germany's GEMA and Sweden's STIM.

​Poland’s STOART and SoundExchange sign reciprocal agreements

​Poland’s collective management organisation for performers STOART has signed a multilateral agreement with US neighbouring rights society SoundExchange and the AFM & SAG-AFTRA Intellectual Property Rights Distribution Fund.
The reciprocal deal will ensure that performers get the royalties they are owed when their music is played across borders. For over 30 years, STOART has collected royalties on behalf of performers when their music is performed on radio, TV and in public spaces.

Elton John, Paul McCartney and Thom Yorke challenge PRS for Music’s admin rates

A group of 18 British songwriters, including Elton John, Paul McCartney and Thom Yorke, have questioned the administrative rates claimed by rights society PRS for Music, according to a Bloomberg report.

The MLC has distributed over $3.3bn to songwriters and publishers since 2021

The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) has disclosed during its Annual Membership Meeting on October 1 that it has distributed over $3.3 billion since its launch in 2021.
The MLC, which has been charged with licensing and administering the blanket compulsory mechanical license for the digital use of music in the US, said 2025 marked “another year of growth, progress, and impact for songwriters, composers, lyricists, and music publishers.”
