Appeals court reinstates Shira Perlmutter as Director of the US Copyright Office

The US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia has ruled that President Donald Trump did not have the authority to terminate Shira Perlmutter's position as Register of Copyrights and Director of the US Copyright Office last May.
The ruling thus reinstates Perlmutter at the Copyright Office, pending a possible referral of the case to the Supreme Court.

Recent decisions by courts and regulatorss on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean proved costly for Google parent Alphabet, but the outcome could have been a lot worse.

European Commission temporarily pauses the investigation into UMG’s proposed acquisition of Downtown Music Holdings

The European Commission's competition division has temporarily paused on September 2 the investigation into the proposed $775 million acquisition of Downtown Music Holdings by Universal Music Group.
