Australia is joining the cohort of countries with a mandatory content obligation on streaming services. The Labour Government will introduce in Parliament in the coming weeks legislation that will require video streaming with more than one million Australian subscribers to invest at least 10% of their total expenditure for Australia – or 7.5% of their revenue – on new local drama, children’s, documentary, arts and educational programmes.

Vanessa Picken, who served as Chair and CEO of Sony Music Australia and New Zealand for the past three years, is stepping down. No replacement has been announced by parent company Sony Music Entertainment. Picken took over from Denis Handlin, who departed the company after 37 as CEO of the company, amid allegations of discrimination, bullying and harassment.

British independent music company Bella Figura Music has appointed American music executive Gary Gersh to the position of Chairman as the company expands from the UK into the United States and establishes a presence in Los Angeles.
As Chairman, Gersh will "advise on global strategy and high-level partnerships." Gersh joins a senior leadership team that includes CEO & Founder Alexi Cory-Smith and co-Founder and CIO Neelesh Prabhu, who oversees investment strategy.
