iHeartMedia posted 2021 revenue up 21% to $3.65bn; musicFIRST Coalition urges stations to stop ‘cry poor’ and pay artists

iHeartMedia — the US largest radio group — reported full year 2021 revenue of $3.55 billion, up 21% year-on-year, with operating income of $155m, up from a loss of $1.73 billion in the year ended December 31, 2020, which included non-cash impairment charges and the impact of Covid-19.
Consolidated adjusted EBITDA was $811m, up from $539m in the previous year. In the last quarter of 2021, revenue reached $1.06bn, up 14% year-on-year.

Universal Music Group has addressed concerns regarding the proposed $775 million acquisition of independent music company Downtown Music by offering an unspecified remedy to the European Commission.
