Nigeria Senate passes new copyright law

The Senate in Nigeria passed a bill that is designed to strengthen the country's legal framework in the regulation, protection and administration of copyright.

The legislation — sponsored by Senator Adetokunbo Abiru (Lagos East) — is known as “A Bill For An Act To Repeal The Copyright Act CAP LFN 2004 And To Re-enact The Copyright Act 2021" or "Copyright Act repeal and re-enactment Bill, 2021" for its short version.
