PRS for Music’s 2021 collections of £777.1m boosted by 45.6% growth in digital income

British music rights society PRS for Music has collected £777.1 million (€925.7m) in 2021, up 22.4% year-on-year, on a constant currency basis, in what it described as "a year punctuated by continued uncertainty." PRS' revenues were boosted by a significant increase in digital collections, with royalties collected from music played online up 45.6% (or £83.9m) to £267.8m, compared to the previous year. The London-based society said digital revenues grew by more than 50% since 2019.

British music rights society PRS for Music has collected £1.24 billion (€1.44bn) in 2025, up 7.7% over the previous year, and had record distributions of £1.07bn (€1.24bn) to its songwriters, composers and music publishers' members in 2025, a 4.9% increase on 2024. The Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA), which collects and distributes mechanical rights in Canada, distributed over CA$94 million (€58.9m) in royalties to its music publisher and self-published songwriter clients for the 2025 fiscal year, slightly down (-2.1%) from CA$96m in 2024.
