Sony Group cancels plans to merge its Indian unit with Zee Entertainment

Sony Group has decided to abandon the $10 billion merger of its Indian unit Culver Max Entertainment with broadcaster and streamer Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL), following apparent complications with the shareholders of the Indian company. Universal Music Group has confirmed that its Board of Directors has received "an unsolicited and non-binding proposal" from Pershing Square Capital Management, L.P. to acquire the company for €56 billion in cash and stock.
