PRS for Music files lawsuit against Valve Corporation’s gaming platform Steam

British rights society PRS for Music has launched legal proceedings on March 4 against Valve Corporation, the parent company of Steam, for the unlicensed use of copyrighted repertoire from PRS by the gaming platform. SIAE’s collections exceeded €1bn in 2025

Matteo Fedeli, the CEO of SIAE, has disclosed that the Italian rights society has collected over €1 billion in 2025, a record for the Rome-based collective management organisation. Over €849m was distributed to authors and publishers, compared to €740m the previous year. In 2022, SIAE collected €792m. PRS for Music CEO Andrea Czapary Martin will step down at the end of 2026

Andrea Czapary Martin, who has served as CEO of British music rights society PRS for Music since June 2019, will be stepping down at the end of 2026. PRS said the decision to step down was reached in agreement with the PRS Members’ Council, and is intended “to allow for the best possible leadership transition for PRS and ensure the society continues to deliver for its members.”
