South Korea’s KOMCA collected a record 436.5 billion won in 2024, up 7.4% y-o-y

South Korea's music rights society Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) has collected a record 436.5 billion won (€290m) in 2024, up 7.4% compared to 2023, and distributed 423.5bn won in 2024, up 8.95% from the previous year. Former BMI VP of Writer/Publisher Relations Roger Sovine has died aged 82

Roger Sovine, who served for many years several decades at US music rights society BMI in Nashville, has died December 23, 2025 at the age of 82. Born in West Virginia, he moved with his family to Nashville in 1955 where his father Woodrow Wilson “Red” Sovine (1917-1980) recorded a series of successful songs, including 'Giddyup Go' in 1965.
