Former BMI VP of Writer/Publisher Relations Roger Sovine has died aged 82

Roger Sovine, who served for many years several decades at US music rights society BMI in Nashville, has died December 23, 2025 at the age of 82. Born in West Virginia, he moved with his family to Nashville in 1955 where his father Woodrow Wilson “Red” Sovine (1917-1980) recorded a series of successful songs, including 'Giddyup Go' in 1965. Roger Sovine started to make a name for himself as a songwriter and performer in the late 60s, while holding a stint of jobs at local music publishing houses...

British rights society PRS for Music and the Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS) have unveiled a new licensing model to support the launch of Apple Fitness+ in India. Independent music publishers saw their global revenue grow to €2.7 billion in 2024, a 5.1% rise compared to the previous year, according to the 'IMPF Global Market View 2025', published by the Independent Music Publishers Forum, the global trade body for independent music publishers. PPL distributed £277.7 million in 2024 to performers and recording rights holders
