Comcast’s Sky makes £1.6bn offer to acquire British commercial broadcaster ITV

The wave of concentration in the media and entertainment sectors is now hitting the UK with the proposed acquisition of commercial broadcaster ITV by Comcast-owned platform Sky, in a deal valued at £1.6 billion ($1.87bn). The deal covers ITV’s over-the-air commercial channels as well as the ITVX streaming platform. The combined unit will be part of Comcast’s NBCUniversal division.
