CISAC calls on experts Nov. 9 to discuss the next steps for the ISWC music identifier

The International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) has invited music publishers and digital services to discuss the next steps for the ISWC music identifier on 9th November 2022.

“Everyone in the music ecosystem agrees that getting the identifier system to work better will put more money into the pockets of creators and those who represent them,” said CISAC.

Following the recent modernisation of ISWC by the confederation to make it faster, more accurate and more efficient, CISAC is asking stakeholders to join the conversation to discuss the next steps for the identifier to get the ISWC adopted across the value chain.

Establish the ISWC as an accurate identifier

An expert panel has been put together by CISAC and publisher organisations in the Societies Publishers Forum (SPF), with representatives from societies, publishers and digital platforms to “discuss the progress being made to establish the ISWC as an accurate and reliable identifier that is used across all parts of the music industry.”

The session will be hosted at SACEM’s offices in Paris and livestreamed on Wednesday 9th November, 16.00 – 17.30 (CET). PRS for Music files lawsuit against Valve Corporation’s gaming platform Steam

British rights society PRS for Music has launched legal proceedings on March 4 against Valve Corporation, the parent company of Steam, for the unlicensed use of copyrighted repertoire from PRS by the gaming platform. SIAE’s collections exceeded €1bn in 2025

Matteo Fedeli, the CEO of SIAE, has disclosed that the Italian rights society has collected over €1 billion in 2025, a record for the Rome-based collective management organisation.
