GESAC has re-elected SACEM's Deputy CEO David El Sayegh as President for another two-year term, following the Statutory General Assembly of the European rights societies' organisation in Brussels on May 28. Matteo Fedeli, CEO of Italy's society SIAE, has been elected as a new member of the Board. Fadeli takes the seat left vacant by José Jorge Letria, CEO of Portuguese society Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores (SPA), who did not seek re-election. He has served on the board since 2012.

Nepal government forms committee to inquire into issues related to music royalties, copyright, and IP rights

The government of Nepal has formed on May 22 a five-member committee to look into allegations of disputes and complaints related to music royalties, copyright, and intellectual property rights. BMI acquires from Orfium music cue sheet platform Soundmouse

US music rights society BMI has signed an agreement with rights management company Orfium to acquire Soundmouse, a music cue sheet reporting and monitoring platform for the broadcast and entertainment production industries. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. BMI plans to operate Soundmouse as an independent company and will remain one of its biggest clients.
