EU Parliament adopts a resolution calling for a European status for the artist

By 543 votes in favour 50 against and 107 abstentions, European Parliament has adopted a resolution calling on the European Commission to create a "European status for the artist." The Parliament's vote followed an earlier vote by the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) which voted 26-0 (and three abstentions) in favour of the resolution. Large video-on-demand services in the UK are now regulated by OFCOM

Major streaming services with over 500,000 users in the UK are now under regulation by OFCOM, as the UK's Media Act of 2024 comes into force. The oversight from the regulator will apply to services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and public service broadcaster's VoD services like ITVX and Channel 4.
