Large video-on-demand services in the UK are now regulated by OFCOM

Major streaming services with over 500,000 users in the UK are now under regulation by OFCOM, as the UK's Media Act of 2024 comes into force. The oversight from the regulator will apply to services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and public service broadcaster's VoD services like ITVX and Channel 4. The British Equity Collecting Society (BECS) has formally exercised an opt-out from the EU Article 4 text and data mining (TDM) exception on behalf of its members.
