CISAC votes the temporary expulsion of Spain’s SGAE

SGAE has been given a year to clean up its act by the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers. CISAC has decided to temporarily expel the Spanish music rights society during its general assembly in Tokyo on May 30. The decision was motivated by the inability from SGAE to implement CISAC's requirements on governance rules, statutes and unfair royalty distribution practices.

SIAE blasts Meta’s decision to exclude Italian repertoire from its platforms amid ongoing licensing negotiations

Italian rights society SIAE (Italian Society of Authors and Publishers ) and the international music publishing community have criticised Meta Platforms for having taken the decision to remove SIAE's repertoire from its library, as the rights society was attempting to negotiate a licensing agreement with the parent company of Facebook and Instagram in agreement with Article 17 of the European Copyright Directive.
