Narda Jones joins the FCC as Chief of Staff to Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel

Narda Jones is returning to the Federal Communications Commission as the Chief of Staff to FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel.

She replaces Travis Litman, who served as Rosenworcel's Chief of Staff and Senior Legal Advisor for seven years. 

Jones — who worked at the FCC between 2001 and 2014 — will take her position mid-April. She joins from the White House where she was the Director of Legislative Affairs for the Office of Science and Technology Policy. Prior to that...

Canada’s new term of copyright protection will come into force on Dec. 30, 2022

On December 30, 2022, Canada's copyright regime will change with the introduction of a new term of copyright protection from 50 to 70 years after the death of the author, according to an Order in Council from the Government of Canada.

Hong Kong’s Copyright (Amendment) Bill scheduled to pass by the end of the year

David Wong, Director of Hong Kong's Intellectual Property Department, expects the Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2022 to be passed by the region's Legislative Council (LegCo) before the end of the year.

Speaking to RTHK at the 12th Business of Intellectual Property Asia Forum, Wong said, “We are striving for the passage of the copyright amendment bill in 2022, to strengthen copyright protection in the digital environment.”

The UK’s CMA completes its market study into music and streaming services without calling for a full market investigation
