UK recorded music consumption went up 4.3% to 166.1 million albums (or their equivalent) that were either streamed or purchased across all formats in 2022, according to figures released by music industry trade organisation the BPI based on data from the Official Charts Company.

Universal Music Group has addressed concerns regarding the proposed $775 million acquisition of independent music company Downtown Music by offering an unspecified remedy to the European Commission.
