California court dismisses copyright infringement lawsuit against Dua Lipa

A Los Angeles federal court dismissed a lawsuit filed against British artist Dua Lipa and her label Warner Records by Florida reggae group Artikal Sound System. The band accused Lipa and her co-writers of infringing upon the copyright in their 2017 song 'Live Your Life' in her song 'Levitating'.

'Levitating' was co-written by Lipa, alongside Clarence Coffee Jr., Sarah Hudson and songwriter and producer Stephen Kozmenuik (a.k.a. Koz). It spent 77 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in the US. ...

SUISA sues X parent company Twitter International for using unlicensed music

Music rights licensing entity SUISA Digital Licensing, a subsidiary of Swiss rights society SUISA, has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit in the Munich I District Court against Twitter International.

New York court dismisses Black Sheep’s lawsuit against Universal Music Group

US District Judge Jennifer Rochon from the US District Court for the Southern District of New York has dismissed a lawsuit filed by rap act Black Sheep against Universal Music Group for withholding royalties from Spotify. The judge said the claims were covered by the statute of limitations.

Daryl Hall sues John Oates to block the sale of music assets to Primary Wave

A judge in Nashville has issued an order to temporarily block the sale of music assets owned by John Oates, the longtime music partner of US performer and songwriter Daryl Hall, to Primary Wave Music.
