RTL Germany launches all-inclusive entertainment package and app RTL+

Bertelsmann-owned media group RTL Germany has launched RTL+, an all-inclusive entertainment package that bundles all media genres in one subscription and in one multimedia app.

The app provides access to music and video streaming. The all-inclusive entertainment package is available for €12.99 per month, including series, reality shows, live sports, films, music, audio books and podcasts, as well as magazine titles from Bertelsmann affiliate Gruner + Jahr.

Richard Burgess will step down in 2026 after ten years as President/CEO of A2IM

Richard James Burgess announced that he planned to step down in January 2026 from his role as President and CEO of A2IM, the United States' independent labels' group, to coincide with a decade as the leader of the New York-based organisation.

Burgess' announced his decision at the end of A2IM's Annual General Meeting, which closed the A2IM Indie Week 2024 in New York. Burgess said that after ten years in the job, there were "other ventures" he wanted to pursue, without giving more details.

NMPA takes Spotify’s audiobooks bundle case to the Federal Trade Commission

The National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) has filed a complaint against Spotify with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding the streaming services' decision to reclassify a new offer as a "bundle" by providing audiobooks to consumers.

The NMPA argued in a letter to FTC Chair Lina Khan that Spotify has "engaged in a scheme to increase profits by deceiving consumers and cheating the music royalty system."
