Concord acquires Los Angeles-based Mothership Music Publishing’s assets

Independent music company Concord has acquired the publishing assets from Mothership Music Publishing. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The deal will see Concord assume the terms of the existing deals with the Los Angeles-based company’s roster of active songwriters, as well as the acquisition of more than 5,000 copyrights across pop, indie pop, rock, alternative, indie folk, Latin, and singer-songwriter genres. Investment firm CVC Capital Partners has signed a definitive agreement to make a majority investment in DistroKid, the music distributor for independent artists, via CVC Capital Partners IX. The wave of concentration in the media and entertainment sectors is now hitting the UK with the proposed acquisition of commercial broadcaster ITV by Comcast-owned platform Sky, in a deal valued at £1.6 billion ($1.87bn).
