Copyright Claims Board issues first ruling and awards $1,000 to a photographer whose work has been infringed

The Copyright Claims Board (CCB), a new jurisdiction sitting with the US Copyright Office to rule on small claims, has rendered its first verdict since opening for business in June 2022.

The purpose of the CCB is to serve as an alternative to expensive and long District Court cases for copyright infringement cases. Since it launched, some 375 cases have been filed with the CCB, most of them from photographers, but few so far have made it to the Board.

Round Hill Music reports a 91% growth in its combined Net Publisher’s Share and Net Label Share to $10.1 million in Q1 2023

Music assets management company Round Hill Music has disclosed that in the three months to 31 March 2023, its combined Net Publisher’s Share and Net Label Share was $10.1 million, up 91% on the first quarter of 2022 ($5.3m).

The company's portfolio of catalogues — valued at $602.6m at the end of 2022 — contains songs by artists such as Alice In Chains, Bush, Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, The Supremes, Wilson Pickett and Whitesnake.
