SOCAN distributed CA$512m in 2025 from revenue of CA$587.1m, up 5% y-o-y

Canadian rights society SOCAN has collected CA$587.1 million (€361.77m) in 2025, a 5% increase over 2024, and distributed CA$512m (€315.7m) in royalties to songwriters, composers and music publishers, the same amount as the previous year. SPEDIDAM announces the departure of Managing Director Guillaume Damerval

Guillaume Damerval, the Managing Director of France's neighbouring rights society SPEDIDAM, has announced that he will step down from his position, effective immediately, after ten years with the organisation. Damerval was appointed MD in 2022. SPEDIDAM did not expand on the reasons for Damerval's departure except to say that he was "moving on to new projects." British neighbouring rights society PPL has paid out £77.7 million to over 28,000 performers and recording rightsholders in its first distribution of the year, covering Q1 2026.
